Cathy Huges School of Communications- Schoolwide Service
CHSOC Assessment Committee (2022–2025)
As a member of the School of Communications Assessment Committee, I contribute to the review and development of schoolwide learning outcomes, assessment methods, and performance benchmarks across undergraduate programs. My role includes analyzing trends in student achievement data, offering input on rubric revisions, and evaluating the effectiveness of instructional strategies at the program level. I’ve participated in internal presentations from the Office of Assessment and worked collaboratively with colleagues across departments to ensure that our assessment practices reflect both academic rigor and cultural responsiveness. I also serve as a bridge to my department, regularly communicating assessment expectations and helping faculty align their assignments and reflections with broader schoolwide goals.
Advisor, Spotlight Network Student Association (2022–2025)
In my role as faculty advisor to the Spotlight Network Student Association, I support students interested in on-camera hosting, entertainment journalism, and digital content production. I work closely with student leaders to help shape the organization’s mission, guide content development, and foster professional readiness. My advising includes one-on-one coaching, script review, and feedback on on-camera presence, with an emphasis on building voice, clarity, and cultural authenticity. I’ve also helped Spotlight members prepare audition reels, organize live tapings, and navigate leadership transitions—creating a consistent space for students to practice media performance in a low-pressure but high-standard environment.
